If you have alerts coming from an alert source that you need to create private incidents for, you can configure your alert routes to only create private incidents.
Configuring your alert route
In your alert route, you can set your incident visibility to "private":
Alert routes set to create private incidents will only create private incidents, no matter the type.
Alert routes not set to create private incidents will skip creating incidents where the selected incident type defaults to private incidents.
This means that alert routes either only create private incidents, or only create public incidents.
Alert routes for private incidents will also not perform any alert grouping.
Who can access private incidents created from alerts?
Anyone with the permission to "Manage private incidents"
Anyone who has been paged will be automatically invited to the incident - this includes automatic escalations from escalation paths.
What can people see about my private incidents?
If a user does not have access to the private incident:
They will be able to see the alert that created the incident. They will not be able to see any details about the related private incident.
They will be able to see automatic escalations that were created for the alert. The escalation title is derived from the public alert.
They will not be able to see more data about the incident beyond the incident reference (INC-XXX).
They will not be able to see any manual escalations created from private incidents.
If you have a use case for private alerts or private escalations, please get in touch. This is not currently supported, but we want to hear from you!
